OmBooty::
OmBooty was created by me, Lexi Moon, a Canadian. I have been a professional dance and fire performer since 2001 and am an Instructor in Yoga and Snowboarding. How do these all come together you wonder? Well, I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors and a lot of time dancing and moving around. During my life I have always had a need for clothing that suited my lifestyle. That same pair of black pants just got really old…. And boring! Hence the creation of OmBooty.
My grandmother taught me to sew as a child, mostly my clothes that needed repair from my last renegade adventure. I kept at it though and still have the sewing machine my mom passed down to me. I spent years making my own costumes for performing and some for friends too. Now, I am still sewing but have other people to work with me to produce my designs that are both freshly fashionable and functional. Try saying that 10 x quickly.
I have been trained well by my adventures in Yoga, Dance and the wilderness and conduct my business in line with certain key values:
1)Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself; I only work with people who keep good quality working environments and I often pay higher than average rates for good quality work, embracing Fair Trade practices
2)Be Kind, Be Kind, Be Kind; need I say more, it’s a rough dog eat dog world out there
3)Leave no Trace or Try to make your environmental impact low; I try to use organic materials as much as possible and have worked with indigenous dying techniques using plants and minerals
4)Support the Arts; with the giant quantities of garments being produced by large factories, there are fewer smaller designers around. The art of a tailor is quite an important one. What adorns YOUR body?
